Audio Moderate Success - No. 14
The book Rules for a Knight is a philosophical fable presented as a letter written by a knight to his children before a potentially fatal battle in 1483. Knowing he may not survive, the knight compiles his life’s wisdom and guidance into a series of reflections on virtues and values.
Audio The Rule Line - No. 13
One of the first things my mentor, Scott Dohner, shared with me was a concept he calls “The Rule Line” that he created while he was CEO of Superfeet. He could see that employees were focused on following the rules and staying out of trouble, but Scott wanted everyone to aim much higher than that.
Audio The Sacred and the Secular - No. 12
I use the phrase “modern world” a lot. I often want to stop using it because it can sound cliche, but I don’t think there is any way around it. Our world is drastically different than the world our ancestors lived in.
Audio A New Paradigm - No. 11
I feel led to share some deep thoughts with you that are very close to my heart. I believe that now more than ever we need to evaluate the paradigms we have about life and, most importantly, what it means to follow Jesus.
Audio Cranial Sphincteritis - No. 10
There is little question in my mind that we can often be our own worst enemy. I think this is because our minds subconsciously work against the process of becoming who we were created to be.
Audio Nobody Knows What They Are Doing - No. 9
One of the most helpful things my mentor Scott Dohner ever told me was that “nobody knows what they are doing.” He had built multiple successful businesses and claimed he never knew what he was doing. When I first heard this, it was very challenging to accept.
Audio Box and Line Thinking - No. 8
I want to talk to you about one of the biggest problems with how we think in the modern world. It keeps us from our full potential, as well as the relationships and community we all want in life.
Audio Dying to the False You - No. 7
The modern world is built around one thing above all else: The pursuit of more. This demand for more drives our industries and is the foundation of all our Western economic and social systems.
Audio What Is Your Identity? - No. 6
Eleven years ago this August, I sat in a maximum security prison surrounded by a group of about 80 inmates. My friend stood up and asked the men in the room a question. "There was a moment that each of you decided to believe you were bad; I want to hear what that moment was."
Audio How Do You Renew Your Mind - No. 5
Renewing the mind is a big topic for me and Heather. In many ways, our relationship has revolved around it from the first time we met. We probably wouldn’t have gotten married if I hadn’t been taught how to renew my mind.
Audio What Do You Really Want? - Note No. 4
I want to share a story with you that I really haven't shared with many people. It's about one of the most impactful experiences of my life. It is what started my transformation journey and ultimately led me here to share these notes with you.
Audio Un-Baking Our Minds Part 2 - Note No. 3
"Your primary contact with God is through your mind, and what you do with your mind is the most important choice you have to make." - Dallas Willard
